About Me

Self Employed
Married / In a relationship
Travel, Freelance writing, photography, tennis, soccer, cycling, and investing.

I grew up in the Chicago area. I attended Evanston Township High School and then Northern Illinois University on an athletic scholarship. I received a BS in Accounting and, later on, an MBA from the University of Chicago. I spent 9 years with a major public accounting firm and then 20 years with mainly large companies in various financial positions.

I started Far and Away Cycling in 2002 after I decided it was time for change.

Far and Away Cycling has grown to offering tours in 10 countries with more on the way. For me, biking is a fun way to explore new destinations and meet people. Rather than simply passing through a place, you become part of it. The tours are all well planned, but there are always unplanned encounters, opportunities to explore something different and a chance to learn.

It's not without challenges, but yes, I do have a very fun job.

Lost on Planet China by Martin Troost. I don't think we will do a bike tour there.
Far and Away has been good for me. I've learned a lot, seen a lot and have met a lot of great people.
